For Authors

The Journal of Gender, Race & Justice is an excellent source of legal scholarship committed to addressing and exploring the classification, stratification, and marginalization that occurs under the law because of race, sex, gender, economic class, ability, sexual identity, and other differences. The Journal is committed to doing so through a high level of scholarship. A study by Washington & Lee University ranks the Journal of Gender, Race & Justice as number five nationally among law journals addressing minority, race, and ethnic issues, based on recent citations. We invite you to join in our tradition of addressing critical legal and social by submitting your article for publication.

Journal of Gender, Race & Justice does not have a maximum word count or page limit, although the length of the manuscript may be a factor we consider in the selection process. We prefer articles with a word count of 20,000 to 30,000 words, including footnotes. We also consider some shorter essays of ~10,000 words. The Journal does not typically publish book reviews or review submissions by students other than Law Review student writers.
